In addition to presentations and discussions, the symposium, which took place for the fifth time this year and was organized by the Bavarian Red Cross in cooperation with Urban Air Mobility of the city of Ingolstadt and THI, also featured various drone demonstrations. THI Professor Gerhard Elsbacher explained how autonomous aircraft work. These followed AI-based algorithms. Visitors were able to observe this impressively during the so-called drone swarm flight, one of the highlights of this year's Drone Day.
The speakers from the BRK, DRK, police, ADAC, THW, mountain rescue services, BBK, and the BMW plant fire brigade all agreed: that drones are valuable helpers in all kinds of disasters. Dr. Reinhard Brandl, a Member of the German Bundestag, Dr Christian Lösel, Managing Director of AImotion Bavaria, Professor Georg Rosenfeld, and Torsten Kretschmann from Deutsche Flugsicherung also shared this view. They discussed the best ways to automate drone flights.
