With the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt and its institutes, the brigk, the Museum of Concrete Art and Design, the Audi Academy, the Maritim Hotel with the Congress Centrum Ingolstadt and the Ingolstadt Economic and Science Development Agency, a new powerhouse of Ingolstadt is being created on the former foundry site.
The institutions involved are united by the goal of developing the area into a visible and lively place for innovation and creative shaping of the future through close cooperation. With this in mind, they organised a public ideas competition to find a name for the former foundry site.
Jury selected from more than 800 submitted proposals
On the basis of more than 800 ideas submitted by citizens, the jury, consisting of the chairman of the BZA Mitte, the city curator of local history, the managing director of IN-City, a representative of the city planning department, a media representative and the heads of the institutions represented on the site, unanimously agreed on the proposal on 7 March: Quartier G - Alte Gießerei.
This name is to serve as a marketing name for joint communication and external presentation. The letter G stands for Gießerei (foundry) and is intended to arouse curiosity and invite people to engage with the history of the site. At the meeting of the City Council Committee for Culture and Education on 14 March 2023, the name proposal submitted by the jury was accepted by a large majority.
