The Israeli Consul General Sandra Simovich visited Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) together with the Israeli Vice Consul General Liran Sahar to inform herself about the activities of the university, especially in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Furthermore, possibilities for cooperation in research and teaching were discussed.
During her visit to the THI, the Israeli Consul General informed herself about the current research activities in the AI research centre AININ (Artificial Intelligence Network Ingolstadt) and the research and test center CARISSMA. In the indoor test facility of CARISSMA the guests were shown how sensors of automated cars react to different weather conditions. The self-developed rain system of CARISSMA was used.
In the field of university cooperation, the Israeli Consul General presented possible exchange programmes, including the organisation of joint German-Israeli seminars, which are linked with reciprocal visits by study groups.
Israel is known worldwide as a high-tech nation that, in terms of population, produces more start-ups, investors and incubators than any other nation. In January 2020, there were about 1,350 companies working in the field of artificial intelligence alone, both in the development of AI technologies and AI applications. All Israeli universities conduct research in the field of AI and provide technology transfer to business and industry. For its part, Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences, as the Bavarian AI mobility node with the AI research center AININ and the research and test center CARISSMA, plays a central role in researching AI methods and applications in the fields of automated driving and flying, automobile production and mobility services.
Through a partnership with Israeli universities in the fields of research and entrepreneurship education, which is supported by the visit of the Consul General, THI can further expand its international network.
