On 18.10.2022, the Doctoral Students' Day took place for the first time at Ingolstadt University of Technology. With this event, the Graduate Center offered all researchers, doctoral candidates and their supervisors a platform to exchange ideas. In a total of 3 rooms, moderated by three professors, researchers were able to present their topics in 10-minute talks. Additionally, there was a poster session in the Atrium in the G-building.
Two PhD students from our ELS research group also took the opportunity to network and talk about their dissertation topics. Andreas Rauscher presented his topic "Detection and classification of partial discharges in the insulation system of electrical machines". In his research, he deals with the origin and problems of partial discharges in stators of electrical machines for use in electric vehicles. He also informed the audience about the testing procedure and the improvement approaches that will be pursued in his research. Pablo Morales Torricos gave a presentation on "State-of-Health Recovery of Lithium-ion Batteries." Pablo Morales Torricos described the content of his research as follows: “The accelerated lifetime estimation of lithium-ion batteries is crucial for the optimal design of battery-powered, static and mobile applications. Herein, the SOH recovery effect must be considered during the battery testing for an accurate lifetime prediction. During our investigation we aim to understand the underlying processes of this recovery effect and, in this manner, improve conventional test strategies for the proper lifetime estimation of lithium-ion batteries.”
