Project Description

The AURORA project aims to ensure the functional safety of camera sensors over their entire service life in the vehicle.

For this purpose, the influence of the pass/fail relevant production variables on object detection is analyzed in order to validate the current pass/fail threshold of the safety-relevant measured variables in production.

To safeguard the safety-relevant functional variables of the camera sensors, which degrade in the field, key indicators of the optics module (electronic variables of the imager chip, intrinsic imaging properties and sharpness) are recorded during aging in order to be able to predict an imminent failure of the optics module via anomaly detection. To this end, methods and algorithms are being researched to determine optical imaging properties such as sharpness in the field.
