The successful execution of an industry workshop in Tunis marked one of the final events before the closure of the Renewable Energy-based E-Mobility in Higher Education (REMO) project in December 2023, concluding its 3.5-year duration. The project adopted a holistic approach to practical-oriented higher education, with a specific focus on renewable energies and e-mobility.
In collaboration with our Tunisian partners, LaRINa-ENSTAB, the workshop brought together over 60 participants, including industry leaders, academia, energy providers, and a team from THI led by project leader Prof. Wilfried Zörner. This dynamic gathering played a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of e-mobility in Tunisia. The REMO Team, comprising contributors from Morocco (Al Akhawayn University), Germany (Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt), and Tunisia, joined forces to fuel insightful discussions during this meeting.
In addition to the main workshop, a specialized session focused on industry-relevant graduate skills, drawing the participation of over 150 students and more than 20 industry professionals. The enthusiastic buzz surrounding these conversations underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing the e-mobility landscape.
The overall achievements of the REMO project have surpassed our initial goals. Quantifying these accomplishments, we proudly note the publication of nine journal articles and six conference papers. Additionally, the projects have led to the completion of two Ph.D. and eleven master theses, contributing significantly to the academic discourse.
Further demonstrating the impact of the REMO initiatives, five industrial workshops and one conference were successfully organized, providing platforms for collaboration and knowledge exchange within the industry. The project has also facilitated nine student and three professor exchanges, which fostered international collaboration and enriched the academic experience for participants.
An integral part of our success has been the strategic inclusion of Renewable Energy Systems and E-Mobility into the teaching curriculum of both countries. This proactive approach ensures that the knowledge generated through the REMO projects continues to influence and shape education in these critical areas.
As we concluded the REMO project, which was funded by the DAAD, in December 2023, we remain committed to ensuring its impact endures beyond its timeline. Together, we continue steering towards a sustainable future.
