THI is placing a new focus on internationalizing its computer science courses. Although engineering and computer science are already strong focus areas of the university, computer science students are less mobile. The reasons for this are the complexity of the subject and the challenge of meaningfully integrating stays abroad into the course of study.
‘International experience is essential in today's working world. With ‘enGlobe_connect’, we want to make it easier for our computer science students to access valuable international networks and promote mobility at the same time. Through cooperation with universities and companies in Mexico and Colombia, we offer a practice-oriented and globally networked education,’ emphasizes THI President Professor Walter Schober.
Bavaria's Minister of Science Markus Blume congratulates on the DAAD funding: ‘THI - the “i” doesn't just stand for Ingolstadt, it stands for international: with more than 160 partner universities, our dynamic Danube University is a true globetrotter. And that's a good thing. International networking is crucial. We want to offer our talented Bavarians the best educational opportunities with worldwide options while attracting bright minds to us. The DAAD funding is confirmation of THI's continuous work on internationalization - only 10 universities of applied sciences in Germany have been awarded this funding. At the same time, it is the starting point for even more contacts in South and Central America. Congratulations!’
To achieve this, THI is launching the ‘enGlobe_connect’ project. The aim is to promote internationalization through low-threshold and flexible offers such as internships, theses, and short study projects. The focus is on new collaborations with partner universities in Mexico and Colombia.
enGlobe_connect focuses on three central areas: study, practice, and research transfer. New study projects are planned each year with partners such as the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) in Mexico and the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada (UMNG) in Colombia, which work together with large companies such as VW de México and Adidas Colombia. Two new computer science courses, User Experience Design (UXD) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), will also be added to the program.
In the long term, THI is aiming to expand the network to other faculties and partner companies to achieve even greater internationalization. A final conference at THI will bring all participants together to present the results of the international collaboration and encourage new cooperation.
