Dr. Dagmar Tomanek, research consultant and research associate in the THI project industryNOW, has published a digitization study for the region of Upper Bavaria in the context of an international cooperation with Paulo Brunheroto and Prof. Dr. Fernando Deschamps of the UFPR in Brazil. The quantitative study examines how Upper Bavarian companies use core technologies in connection with Industry 4.0. The results aim to identify improvement potentials, ideas for product innovations and possible new business models. The study explicitly examines SMEs that are facing particular challenges of digital change. Further research by the German-Brazilian cooperation entitled "Implications of Industry 4.0 to companies' performance: A comparison between Brazil and Germany" has already been accepted at the scientific conference "International Joint Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IJCIEOM)".
