The focus in the intensification phase is on network management, for which the foundations were already laid in the start-up phase. Over the past few years, SAFIR has developed intensive application-oriented collaborations with a wide range of partners from industry, science and politics in the field of vehicle safety from occasional collaborations with individual partners.
In particular, the successful development of SAFIR is to be continued through network management and the basis for sustainable continuation created after the intensification phase.
However, the identification and targeted promotion of innovative ideas will also remain core topics within the management project. The area of innovation management will continue to form its own pillar. In the intensification phase, cross-project dovetailing and networking will be expanded in order to utilise existing synergies.
There are plans to intensify co-operation with existing partners on the one hand and to tap into new partners and sources of funding within and outside the university for the network on the other. In particular, it is planned to anchor the SAFIR network in the two IN institutes CARISSMA and IIMO as well as the AN institutes AININ and Fraunhofer in a highly decentralised manner. In order to pool expertise and utilise synergies, the exchange of experience with other strategic university projects such as "Mensch in Bewegung" and, in particular, the Brazil and Latin America network AWARE will be cultivated. In the area of innovation management, close networking is planned with the Centre of Entrepreneurship (CoE) at THI, where start-up projects in particular are initiated and supported as part of the EXIST-Potentials funding line in the "TH-INspire" project.
