On 5 September 2023, SAFIR Programme Coordinator Camila Heller had the opportunity to discuss road safety with experts such as Dr Michael Mittermeier, Bernd Sluka and Wolfram Hell at the Citizen Lab of the IAA 2023, at the invitation of Bayern Innovativ. During this discussion it became clear that the realisation of Vision Zero requires a comprehensive and coordinated effort at various levels. Here, the interdisciplinary cooperation of science, politics, companies and civil society is crucial. Science must focus on continuous research and the development of innovative technologies in the field of road safety, cooperate closely with industry and government agencies, and specifically raise public awareness of safe behaviour in road traffic.
The SAFIR research partnership is vigorously pursuing this goal as it aims to make a significant contribution to Vision Zero. Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt is committed overall to a culture of safety, innovation and social responsibility. By linking research, education and practice, it contributes to moving step by step closer to the vision of zero serious traffic accidents and fatalities.
