After two years of Corona, THI's UNICEF university group had a problem: lack of motivation among members, no project ideas, lack of commitment. Gloria Peter, Maria Nutz and Sebastian de Rooy, students in the Bachelor of Business Administration at THI Business School, did not want to accept this. They took over the chairmanship of the group in the winter semester 21/22 and got started: they managed to recruit fifteen new student members for the group in the summer semester 22. Through the UNICEF University Group Instagram account, they promoted campaigns such as Earth Day, which calls for people around the world to simultaneously turn off electric lights for one hour to save electricity.
They expanded the "Your Deposit Saves Lives" campaign, in which boxes were set up at supermarkets, the THI and student dormitories into which people could donate their bottle deposit receipts. But their biggest project - and greatest success - was a charity run in Klenzepark (RUNICEF) in May 2022, during which they raised 22,000 euros for UNICEF aid projects for Ukraine and Afghanistan.
In addition to the social aspect, the three students were also able to have their commitment credited to their studies: Social projects are a mandatory part of the curriculum in all bachelor's degree programs at THI Business School.
