"Der Handel der Zukunft – digitaler, direkter, überraschender" (engl.: Retail in the Future - more digital, more direct, more surprising): Under this headline, Prof. Dr. Christian Stummeyer from THI Business School published a guest article in the journal "The Future of Retail", the current special publication of the daily newspaper "Das Handelsblatt". According to the publisher, the Handelsblatt is one of the largest German daily newspapers with a reach of more than 450,000 readers and almost 240,000 decision-makers.
Central theses of Stummeyer's article are, among other things, that the customers of the future are digital natives, i.e. a generation that uses digital channels, for example for shopping, but also for communication etc., much more intensively than all previous generations. That is why they expect innovative retail. In addition, stationary retail will increasingly use digital technologies in the future. And: The use of artificial intelligence methods will lead to significant changes in sales processes.
Stummeyer holds a professorship for Business IT and Digital Commerce at Technical University Ingolstadt and is the scientific director of AININ ("Artificial Intelligence Network Ingolstadt"), the Bavarian Research Center for Artificial Intelligence in Ingolstadt. He is a sought-after keynote speaker and works as management consultant for globally operating companies.
