Master's student donates stem cells

Sebastian Herb is studying for a master's degree in Marketing / Sales / Media at THI Business School and has saved the life of a little girl - with a stem cell donation. He had already received the call from the DKMS (German Bone Marrow Donor Center) last summer. In December 2020, the stem cells were extracted from him at a hospital in Nuremberg and afterwards transplanted into a child in Serbia. Shortly after Christmas, Herb received the news that the girl's surgery had gone well - an enormous relief for him. "My worries about preparing for exams and studying suddenly seemed so insignificant," the student says. "I hope that the girl will recover completely. And maybe I'll even be able to meet her in person someday after I graduate from MVM." He appeals to all his fellow students register for DKMS. "It only takes a few minutes, but in the best case scenario, it can save someone else's life."

Normally, the DKMS holds a typing campaign once a year at THI; in 2020, it unfortunately had to be cancelled due to Corona. However, interested parties can contact DKMS at any time and will be sent a registration kit for a cheek swab.
