With this mission, Alexander Decker, Professor of Consumer Goods Marketing and Digital Media at THI Business School, talks to Ann-Kathrin de Moy (Vice President Content Management) and Georg Geissler (Head of the Expert Commission Employee Management and Promotion) about his idea of diversified markets in marketing and sales and what needs to be taken into account in the process in the entertaining podcast "VTalk" of the German Association of Sales Managers.
In the interview, Decker therefore tells how he introduces his Master's students to hurdles like pitching and how extremely exciting business ideas can emerge with a lot of creativity and the "desire to fail". Of course, the risks of digital transformation are also discussed in the course, such as the dangers of monopoly positions (in e-commerce, social media or especially in search engines).
This is where the two moderators finally build a bridge to Decker's work as Chief Marketing Officer at the Open Search Foundation, which has set itself the goal of counteracting European dependence on corporations like Google: Four years ago, the Foundation began to lay the foundations for an open, neutral, European search index. Although there are still some complex issues to be solved, it is definitely feasible. All with the goal of creating more diversity!
